New artifacts displayed every month to promote tourism

Minister of Antiquities Mohamed Ibrahim said that artifacts from the museum stores that were not displayed before would be placed for public viewing in a special display called “Artifact of the Month” in order to promote tourism.

Ibrahim also said in a statement on Monday that the Egyptian Museum received many children on International Museum Day (18 May) where entrance was free of charge.

Egyptian Museum Director Mohamed Ali said the staff welcomed Egyptian and foreign visitors with flowers on that day and gave them pamphlets that explain the history of the museum and the most important pieces on display.

“We also showed a play depicting ancient Egyptian lifestyle and the costumes and decorations of the time,” Ali added.

Shadia Mohamed, general manager for international organizations, said a wing was also opened at the Coptic Museum for rare pieces, which would be displayed for a month.
