Nine dead, 30 injured in Minya road accident

Eight people were killed and another 28 were injured as a bus was burnt after hitting a marble-loaded vehicle on the Upper Egypt eastern desert road between Minya and Beni Suef road early Tuesday, a source from Minya Ambulance Authority said.

The ambulances in Minya transferred the victims and the injured. Others, whose number is still unknown, were transferred to Beni Suef hospital.

Government data revealed that the number of car accidents in Egypt reached 15,578 in 2013, up 0.4 percent from a year earlier, which claimed the lives of 6,716 people and injured 22,411.

Traffic accidents are usually blamed on reckless driving.
