North Coast is top Egyptian destination for Arab tourists

Hisham Idris, member of the General Assembly of the Egyptian Chamber of Tourism Companies, said that many Arab tourists are choosing to spend this current season at the North Coast, due to the quality of service they get there and the good weather this time of year.

In statements to Al-Masry Al-Youm, Idris said that Cairo hotels increased their prices significantly this season, which has helped influenced tourist decisions to choose the North Coast.

Atef Abdel-Latif, chairman of the Travelers Group, said that occupancy rates in Alexandria are close to the highest rates of this period, and hotels at Marsa Alam and Hurghada expected to exceed 90 percent during the Eid holiday.

He pointed out that the Red Sea also includes, along with the influx of domestic tourism, a good share of Germans, Italians and Ukrainians who enjoy diving and water sports, adding that Sharm el-Sheikh is expected to increase the tourists’s stay.

Hotels and tourist villages in the Red Sea saw an increase in occupancy rates with the start of Eid al-Fitr holiday reaching 100 percent as indicators for hotel bookings and tourist villages in Hurghada, be it through booking from electronic payment or from tourism companies, anticipate full occupancy rates during the holiday.
