Official to hold conference for youth political participation

The head of the National Council for Youth has unveiled plans to hold a conference for young members of political parties in the lead up to the upcoming People’s Assembly’s elections in November.

Safey Eddin Kharboush, council chairman and prominent member of the ruling National Democratic Party, said the aim of the conference is to encourage youth participation in politics. He announced that a million copies of the constitution will be distributed during the conference.

Kharboush took aim at the 2010 Human Development Report which has criticized his performance in countering gender disparities within the council. He also dismissed the report’s claims that the council has not done enough to encourage you Egyptians to play sports, arguing that it relied on incorrect information.
