Over 90 artifacts to be displayed at Cairo Airport museum

Work is underway to transform several halls at the Cairo International Airport into an antiquities museum, said Mo’men Othman, the head of the museums sector with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, adding that this new museum would display over 90 artifacts.

He added that two halls at Terminal Three and the hall in front of the VIP lounge at Terminal Two was allocated for the museum, which aims to promote cultural tourism in Egypt and encourage tourists, especially transit passengers, to visit archaeological and historical places and museums.

The museum includes artifacts dating back to different eras of Egypt, Othman said.

He explained that the museum includes more than 70 artifacts from the Egyptian Museum and 12 pieces from the Museum of Islamic Art, in addition to six pieces from the Coptic Museum.

Museum tickets will be set at three US dollars per visitor, he said, adding that the museum will be open to visitors 24 hours a day.
