PM faces impasse after four ministers resign

Prime Minister Hesham Qandil faces an impasse as four ministers have submitted their resignations, while ministers not belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood are also threatening to submit their resignations, which would create a Brotherhood-only cabinet, an informed source has said.

The source said that Qandil had met with President Mohamed Morsy and had mulled over the four ministers’ resignations.

According to the source, the resignations were motivated by the ministers' disapproval of the cabinet's performance and its neglect of the people's demands, voiced on Sunday across Egypt.

The ministers who resigned included Hatem Bagato, minister of state for parliamentary councils and legal affairs, Hesham Zaazou, minister of tourism, Khaled Fahmy, minister of environment, and Atef Helmy, minister of telecommunications.
