Police raid party headquarters ahead of NASL press conference

Police forces raided the headquarters of al-Estqlal Party (The Independence Party), formerly dubbed the New Labor Party, on Tuesday before the start of a press conference for the National Alliance to Support Legitimacy (NASL) that was scheduled to be held at the party headquarters.

The National Alliance had announced a press conference to reveal the human rights violations security forces committed while dispersing the Rabaa al-Adaweya and al-Nahda sit-ins in response to the National Council for Human Rights' report over the dispersal.

The police closed Gamal Eddin Aboul Mahasen Street where the Estqlal Party headquarters is located and prevented the entry of journalists and photojournalists.

The alliance confirmed the raid on Facebook but mentioned no arrests. Reuters quoted the FJP news website as saying NASL leaders were not arrested as the raid occurred before they arrived.
