Policeman killed, another injured in Garden City shooting

A policeman was shot dead outside an embassy in Garden City, downtown Cairo, on Tuesday morning, apparently as the result of a disagreement with a police conscript.

Osama Abdeen Khattab was killed and another policeman, Sherif Mohamed, wounded in the incident, which resulted from an argument, according to a senior Interior Ministry source.

Radwan Wanees Mohamed, a conscript member of the Central Security Forces, was guarding an embassy when he got into an argument with Khattab.

Before being shot, Khattab allegedly insulted Mohamed, threatened to penalize him and deprive him of his monthly vacation, according to the ministry source.

The injured policeman was taken to hospital, while Mohamed has been arrested pending investigations.
