Pope calls for Catholic-Orthodox unity

The head of the Coptic Orthodox Church, Pope Tawadros II, called on Sunday for unity and dialogue between eastern Orthodox and Catholic churches.

During a golden jubilee celebration in Austria organized by Pro-Orienta, an establishment launched to promote dialogue between Catholic and eastern churches, Egypt’s pope said unity among churches come with theological dialogue as well as partnership in several fields including education, monasticism and social development.

“We hope all churches around the world could agree on a unified day to celebrate the Feast of Resurrection,” the pope said during the event attended by Austria’s Catholic archbishop, Christoph Schönborn, and the head Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, Cardinal Koch.
