Port Tawfiq receives first tourist ship in 9 years

The governor of Suez, al-Araby al-Sarwy, and security director of Suez, Major General Magdy Abdel Aal, received the Port Berlin ship at Port Tawfiq on Friday. It is carrying 275 German tourists and 169 crew members. The ship is the first to visit the port in nine years. It was coming from the port of Sharm el-Sheikh to visit Suez's archeological areas.
 
A major celebration to welcome tourists was held upon their arrival. Berlin is the first tourist ship to arrive in Port Tawfiq in nine years, since the sinking of the al-Salam 98 ship.
 
There was a pilot run last year for the port, which received pilgrims during Umrah, but it was closed again afterwards.
 
The Suez governor welcomed tourists with roses and leaflets in foreign languages ​​on archeological areas in the governorate. He offered the ship's captain the shield of the Suez governorate and gave his assistants commemorative medals.
