Ten Egyptian companies applied to manufacture Sovaldi, an American drug for the treatment of Virus C, for LE7000 to LE900 per pack according to Dr. Mohi Hafez, member of the Medicines Export Council.
“The Health Ministry did not yet set its market price,” Hafez said, expecting the price to drop from LE18,000 to LE2000 within months due to a decline in the price of raw material.
He said the companies started an experimental launch before distributing it fully in the market.
“New medicines must undergo tests for several months before launching,” he explained.
