Prosecution: Alaa and Gamal Mubarak will remain in detention

Assistant Public Prosecutor Hassan Yassin has said that Alaa and Gamal Mubarak, sons of former president Hosni Mubarak, will not be released, as they will be detained in relation to three cases pertaining to illicit gains, manipulation of the stock exchange, and squandering funds allocated for presidential palaces.

The Cairo Criminal Court had on Monday ordered the release of Alaa and Gamal Mubarak pending their trial regarding charges of abuse of power and seizing public funds.

Judicial sources said that Alaa Mubarak will be detained for 15 days in the case in which he is charged of illicit gains, and that the prosecution would challenge any request by the defense for his release.
