Prosecution detains 13 over charges of founding terrorist group

The Supreme State Security Prosecution detained 13 suspects over charges of founding a group adopting the Islamic State extremist ideology.

According to investigations, suspects planned to carry out suicide bombings targeting military and Coptic institutions, and that they were preparing to conduct their operations by the beginning of next year.

Three suspects confessed that they had been preparing for the crimes. The prosecutors issued arrest warrants against three others.

The suspects confessed to adopting extremist ideas aimed against Christians, the police, and the armed forces.
