Provisional custom clearance for cinematography equipment to boost foreign film production

Finance Minister Ahmed Galal issued a provisional custom clearance for cinematography equipment, audio accessories and wardrobes for movies in order to boost foreign companies to shoot films in Egypt.

The clearance was issued against a commitment from the chairman of the National Center for Cinema or his authorized representatives.

The minister said custom duties and taxes prevented international film production companies from shooting films in Egypt.

“The geographical nature of Egypt is suitable for shooting films,” he said. “This would have a positive impact on tourism as well.”
