Public, private sector jobs ops fall by 46% in October

A Cabinet Information Center report revealed a 46 percent drop in the number of public and private sector job opportunities during October as compared to the same period the year before.

The report, issued on Wednesday, put the total number of October hiring at 5000, compared to 9038 the previous October.

According to the report, the number of job opportunities created by the Social Development Fund decreased 13.5 percent at 19,000 compared to 22,000 the same time last year.

However, total new job opportunities created by the Local Development Fund increased 3.8 percent, from 524 to 544.

The report also noted that demand for Egyptian domestic and foreign labor dropped from 480 points in October 2009 to 324 points in October 2010.
