Salah wins October’s Liverpool Player of the Month

Egyptian football icon Mohamed Salah received on Thursday the Standard Chartered Player of the Month award, after being voted the team’s star man in October by Liverpool fans.

This is the eighth time Salah has won the award, since joining the Reds last summer.

Mohammed Salah led Liverpool to three straight wins, after starting the month with a Champions League defeat by Naples and a draw with Manchester City, scoring 4 goals last month, including 3 at Anfield.

Liverpool FC said in a statement that Salah came first, ahead of Xherdan Shaqiri in second and Georginio Wijnaldum third, after taking the majority of votes in a poll of supporters on LiverpoolFC.com.

“We’ve started the season very well. All the players have put in great performances, so we have to carry on like this,” Salah said.

“I’ve said before in interviews – it’s always a good feeling to play and score at Anfield. The record I have at home is great, and I really enjoy playing at Anfield a lot,” he added.

“I’m looking forward to reaching 100 goals for Liverpool! Let’s see what happens, but there are many targets to try to aim for before then – first, to try to win something for the club, to achieve something and continue winning games,” Salah said.
