Saudi aid to Egypt starts to flow in

The military airport, east of Cairo, welcomed on Tuesday two planes from Saudi Arabia bringing aid to Egypt, as per the orders of Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz.

Sources at the airport told the German News Agency DPA that all the help needed was provided to speed up the unloading of the two planes. They have brought about 100 tons of medical aid necessary to set up three field hospitals, and some other facilities needed by the security forces.

The airlifted aid is scheduled to continue to arrive during the upcoming days via the military airport. A medical team had arrived before the airlift to determine the necessary medical needs of field hospitals.

King Abdullah had ordered to send all necessary supplies to set up three field hospitals in support of the Egyptian people, and stressed that the people and government of the Kingdom stand with Egypt "against terrorism, delusion and sedition."

Saudi Arabia has taken a supportive stance to the military's overthrow of the Muslim Brotherhood regime in early July. And expressed its willingness, in addition to other Arab Gulf countries, to give Egypt financial aid in case the European Union and the United States carry out their threats to stop financial aid to Egypt, after the killing of hundreds of people during clashes between security forces and supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood.
