Sawiris and the illusory parliament

Two weeks ago, I wrote an article in Al-Masry Al-Youm entitled “The Illusory Parliament.” It lasted for a whole week as the most read article of the newspaper.

Articles like this one trigger debate, which is good. It was responded to with constructive criticism. Yet certain TV stations and newspapers fabricated lies unrelated in any way to the article I wrote.

I chose not to reply to such lies until Naguib Sawiris, founder of the Free Egyptians Party, said in an interview with Al-Mal newspaper that he fired Rami Radwan, the host of the Sabah Online program, because he followed instructions by the security agencies to lambast me for writing this article.

I had not watched that episode, but a lady from ONTV called me and apologized deeply for the incident.

Also, a friend of mine gave me recordings of another TV station that spread lies about me. He told me this station was pro-Mubarak but then supported the 25 January revolution and later the Muslim Brotherhood. Today, it supports President Sisi. He told me that he would expose them on YouTube, but I asked him not to do so because it would be unethical.

The president's office sent me a letter that Al-Masry Al-Youm has published, asking me very politely to send the laws that I said in my article were unconstitutional. I did so four days later, and the response of the presidency was a shock to those who had attacked me.

No matter who disagrees with Naguib Sawiris, everybody knows that he is a patriot to the core and that he is brave and bold when it comes to what he believes is right. His decision to fire the host of the program was a fatal blow for the young man yet also useful for him so that he is not coined for the rest of his life as the follower of State Security instructions.

I cannot claim that the politicians and journalists who have attacked me were following the same instructions, but I advise the State Security Apparatus to focus on Egypt's security instead of wasting time in such issues.

Rise you Egyptian, Egypt is calling for you.
