School official accused of raping 3 pupils arrested

The Ministry of Education initiated an urgent investigation into complaints submitted by a number of parents at a language school in Nozha neighborhood, Cairo, accusing a school official of raping three pupils.

The accused is a partner in the school and is its legal representative.

The allegations by parents were brought forward after one of the alleged victims identified him.

The Education Ministry will dispatch a committee to the school on Wednesday, where the alleged incidents occurred, to verify the claims, head of the Ministry’s General Education Sector Reda Hegazy said.

Hegazy added in a press statement that in the case that the incidents are confirmed, the accused will be immediately dismissed, and the legal documents of the school will be reviewed.

An official source with the Education Ministry revealed that the accused official was interrogated by Nozha prosecutors after he was arrested on Tuesday morning.

The source clarified that the accused is “one of the partners in the school and not its director, as some have circulated”.

Parents gathered in front of the school on Tuesday and then filed an official complaint with the police station of Nozha. The suspect was arrested later from his office at the school.
