Security authorities prevent media coverage of Al Jazeera journalists trial

On Thursday, security authorities prevented journalists from covering the trial of 20 defendants, including four foreign journalists who work for Al Jazeera TV, in the case publicly known as the "Marriott Cell".

In December, the public prosecution issued arrest warrants for 20 people, including two British, one Australian and a Dutch correspondent for Al Jazeera, over charges of inciting chaos through fabricated videos.

Egyptian authorities shut down Al Jazeera's office following the ouster of President Mohamed Morsy in July 2013.

Many critics say Al Jazeera adopted an editorial policy against the Mubarak regime and the current authorities.
