Sisi calls to increase cooperation with African Union Countries: Presidency Spokesperson

 

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and head of the General Intelligence Service Abass Kamel on Sunday, calling for increased cooperation with African countries and developing a mechanism for joint African work concerning issues of development, peace and security in the continent.

Egyptian Presidency spokesperson Bassam Radi said that Sisi discussed with the Egyptian government preparations to preside over the African Union in February 10.

Radi said that topics the meeting covered included the summit’s agenda and initiatives of the joint work, the African development agenda 2063, initiatives for economic and regional integration, enhancement of intro-continental trade, methods for preventing and settling African disputes, and the institutional reform process of the African Union.

He pointed out that the African countries selected Egypt to preside over the African Union during the coming 31st session to be held in 2019. The union said that they appreciated the vital role of Egypt in the African continent under leadership of President Sisi, Radi clarified.
