President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi opened on Saturday the third Africa Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) to be held from February 10 to 12 in Cairo under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and the African Development Bank.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, Chairman of the African Development Bank Group Akinwumi Adesina and 35 African ministers of Higher Education, Sciences, Technology, Innovation and Scientific Research, in addition to scientists, researchers, innovators, and development partners.

During the forum’s inauguration, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abd al-Ghafar said that the forum’s agenda until 2063 will emphasize the importance of education, technology and innovation to achieve a better future for the continent’s population, socially and economically.

“The African continent’s peoples gathered their will on this common agenda through six specific axes: poverty reduction, disease prevention, communication, preservation of the African external space, community building and wealth creation to improve the social and economic situation and bring about a better future for the people of Africa,” he said.
