Supply Ministry to reduce food prices ahead of Ramadan

The Minister of Supply and Internal Trade would reduce the prices of all food items produced by the Holding Company for Food Industries starting 18 June, ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, said Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Khaled Hanafy Friday during a meeting with head of the Holding Company for Food Industries.

The offer would last for two weeks and the commodities would be sold at the exhibition of the Social Fund in Nasr City, the minister added.

The offer includes fresh and frozen meat, poultry, and fish, sugar, flour, oil, margarine, legumes, vegetables, fruits, baked goods, juices, detergents and all goods produced by the companies affiliated with the Holding Company for Food Industries, Hanafy said.

Hanafy mentioned that the ministry is currently underway to create specialized outlets that would sell specific products at discounted prices and high quality.

The consumer complexes and outlets of the companies affiliated with the Holding Company for Food Industries, numbering 34 companies, are being developed to better serve citizens and to increase the profits of loss-making companies, according to Hanafy.
