Tagammu VP requests suspension of his membership

Tagammu Party Vice President Anis el-Bayaa requested that his party membership be suspended in protest of his party’s refusal to dialogue and coordinate with the Muslim Brotherhood.

"Our branch in Damietta has been in coordination with the group for 15 years," el-Bayaa said, wondering why the headquarters in Cairo does not do the same.

"I know that we have different ideologies, but we can find common ground, such as supporting the besieged Palestinians in Gaza," he added, pointing out that the group sends aid to Gaza through the Popular Committee for the Support of the Palestinians, which is led by a Tagammu Party senior official.

"Politics means opening dialogue with all political forces if it benefits the good of society," he noted.

Tagammu Party Secretary General Sayyed Abdel Ali said el-Bayaa’s request may be rejected as, "We need his expertise for the upcoming parliamentary elections," he said.
