Taxi drivers strike in Sohag, protest police officer beating their colleagues

Taxi drivers in Sohag went on strike on Wednesday to protest a police officer beating three of their colleagues at the terminal for not presenting their route map, as stipulated by the traffic police.

The strike created a state of chaos, as crowds of passengers did not find transportation means to take them to east side of the city.

The drivers said they will continue to strike until their colleagues are released from the police station and allowed to work again.

Sohag Security Director Ibrahim Saber called on the traffic police to resolve the problem and convince the drivers to end the strike.
