Terminator Genisys climbs to the top of weekend box office

The fifth instalment of the "Terminator" franchise, "Terminator Genisys," rose to the top of the worldwide box office over the weekend, according to Rentrak.

The film, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke and Emilia Clarke, pulled in US$23.6 million (RM97 million) internationally and US$190,000 in the domestic market to bring its overall weekend earnings to nearly US$23.8 million.
 
While the film has had less success in the US market, global viewing has saved the Paramount Pictures film. Its overall worldwide earnings have now hit US$409.2 million.
 
"Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" held steady over the weekend, raking in US$23.6 million worldwide, while "Straight Outta Compton" was still performing well with US$19.7 worldwide.
