Thousands go to Social Sodality offices in Minya to obtain ‘Poverty Proof’

With the start of the school semester in Upper Egypt’s governorate of Minya, thousands of residents gathered on Sunday in front of Social Solidarity offices there to get a ‘Poverty Certificate’  for the sake of receiving financial aid and student sons.

According to El-Masry El Youm newspaper, the citizens who gathered in front of the aforementioned offices aimed to get monthly financial aid worth between EGP40 and 200 EGP per person for the semester.

Hatem Mohamed Hassan from El Basqlon village in Minya noted that he is going on an annual basis to the Social Solidarity offices to receive the monthly financial aid, while Rabie Mohamed stated that he goes for the sake of getting the 200 EGP financial aid for family members.

Representative of the Social Solidarity Ministry at Minya governorate, Mohamed Sayed, said that these measures are being applied on an annual basis at the beginning of study season for the sake of providing support for poor families.
