Three Egyptian fishermen die, others injured as Saudi fishing boat sinks



Three Egyptian fishermen were killed and three others injured as a Saudi fishing boat sank, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.

The fishing boat “Abdullah II” had a total of six Egyptian fishermen on board, the assistant foreign minister for Egyptians abroad, Yasser Hashem explained – adding that the Consulate General in Jeddah is closely following the accident’s developments.

Upon learning of the accident, the consulate immediately contacted the Saudi authorities and dispatched a representative to the scene to check on state of the injured, who all received treatment until their discharge from the hospital.

According to Hashem, the consulate followed the search for the three deceased until the bodies were recovered, with their burial procedures finalized.

The Foreign Ministry affirmed the continued follow-up of the conditions of the injured and the families of the deceased, ensuring their full rights and entitlements, expressed sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished recovery for the injured.

The ministry also thanked the Saudi authorities for the efforts made in dealing with this accident.
