Transport ministry eyes high-speed train in October city

The Ministry of Transport is considering the installation of a high-speed railway in the city of 6th of October, west of Cairo, Minister Hany Dahy told Al-Masry Al-Youm.
 
The railway under study is expected to link the third and fourth lines of the capital’s subway, as well as connecting the city’s districts.
 
According to Dahy, the ministry is nearing the signature of a contract for the implementation of the third phase of the sunway’s third line, which extends from Haroun al-Rashid station in Heliopolis to Cairo International Airport.
 
The company to be tasked with the undertaking has agreed to reduce the cost from 330 million euros (LE3 billion) to only 247 million euros, Dahy added.
