Trial of Egyptian fisherman charged with espionage in Sudan postponed to Tuesday

Taha al-Sharidy, head of the Fishermen Union in Dakahlia, said that a Sudanese court has postponed the trial of 101 Egyptian fishermen that have been detained in Sudan for four months on charges of espionage to next Tuesday, as confirmed by the Sudanese lawyer that was assigned for the case by the Egyptian Embassy in Sudan.

“It is a political issue,” said Sharidy, calling on the authorities to end the detention of these fishermen as soon as possible. “We will pressure the government to do so.”
