UNWTO hands Sisi shield for tourism reformation

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) handed President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi the organization’s shield, rewarding Sisi’s support for the tourism sector as part of the country’s 2030 strategy for sustainable development.

UNWTO praised Egypt’s structural reform program for the development of the tourism sector in Egypt, considering it a model that could be implemented in other countries.

The organization also praised the institutional reformation sector and the successful training of employees in the various tourist sectors.

The Ministry of Tourism set in January a program for structural reform, aiming to achieve sustainable development in line with the United Nations goals of sustainable development.

Minister of Tourism Rania al-Mashat pointed out that the structural reform program would develop the ministry’s relationships with international organizations with the aim of enhancing cooperation in various fields.

Mashat also clarified that the program would implement green tourism and expand activities in the field of environmental tourism.
