Up to 2,000 Egyptians to participate in organizing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations

Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and Chairman of the Volunteers Committee, Jehad Amer, explained the mechanisms behind selecting volunteers to work in the tournament scheduled to start June 21, which could include 1,500 to 2,000 volunteers.

In a statement on Sunday, she said that the committee will not accept papers or application forms for volunteers by hand, to preserve the transparency of choice and to achieve the principle of equal opportunities for anyone willing to work on this national project.

Amer stressed that all applications must be submitted through the official website of the committee, adding that the final steps are currently underway for the launch of the website.

She said that the committee will shortlist applicants on the basis of the conditions set earlier by the committee, which requires proficiency in a foreign language, in addition to having experience in organizing one of the previous sports championships.

Amer added that the final number of volunteers will be determined after an actual visit to the sites that will host the event in different governorates, after agreement with the rest of the organizing committees, to know the actual needs and requirements of the tournament in general.
