Update: 13 dead, 14 injured in bus accident

Thirteen people are dead and 14 were injured in a road accident on Saturday morning when a bus fell from the Marioteya Bridge into the Marioteya channel.
 
The bus carried Orascom Company workers who were on their way from Old Cairo to 6 October City. The cause of the accident is currently unknown, according to the head of Giza traffic, general directorate Major General Magdy Ezz Eddin.
 
Rescue teams headed to the scene and removed the bodies of the victims from the scene.
 
Egypt reportedly has the highest rate of traffic accidents in the world.
 
According to a preliminary report for the World Health Organization, Egypt ranked first on the list of road accidents with a rate of 41.6 per 100,000 people. The survey was initiated in 2012 and included 178 countries.
 
Last year, Egypt's traffic laws were amended twice in less than six months, Aswat Masriya reported.
