WHO to implement new health insurance system in Egypt

John Jabbour, Director of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) office in Egypt, confirmed that the WHO is responsible for implementing Egypt’s new health insurance system in cooperation with the country’s health authorities.

During a workshop on the health system’s governance, organized by the French Chamber of Commerce, Jabbour said that the WHO is implementing the United Nations 2016/2030 health plans  as part of developmental goals.

He added that the new health insurance law depends on the comprehensive health coverage of all Egyptians, in accordance to the 2014 Constitution.

The law takes into account the low-income groups and guarantees their right to fair treatment at the highest quality.

Janbour said that the new system depends on medical technology through recording the patient’s history of illnesses, in order to promote governance based on legal frameworks and institutional transformation.

He further stressed that the organization is taking into account the Egyptian government’s sustainable development plans.
