Women’s international film festival to open Saturday

The sixth Cairo International Women’s Film Festival (CIWFF) will open on Saturday, running from 16-22 November. 35 movies from 25 countries will be screened during the bumper festival.
 

CIWFF will open with a screening of Dutch film, Water Children, directed by Aliona van der Horst, at Cairo Opera House’s Artistic Creativity Center.

The festival presents selections of movies made by women. Recently produced films will be screened at the Opera House, al-Falaki Theatre and AUC’s Ewart Hall.

The festival will also screen some films which have earned international awards like the British film Salma, directed by Kim Longinotto, Palestinian film When I Saw You, directed by Annemarie Jacir, Swedish film Belleville Baby, directed by Mia Engberg, Argentinian film The Prize, directed by Paula Markovitch, and the Dutch film 900 Days, directed by Jessica Gorter.

Films by director Nabiha Lotfy will also be screened, including documentaries Children Games and Tahia Carioca.
